PGA TOUR Golf is back in the Bluegrass! The Barbasol Championship marks the return of an annual TOUR event in the state of Kentucky since the Kentucky Derby Open dating back to 1957 in Louisville. We are thrilled to welcome this tournament to our very own Champions course at Keene Trace.

Played each July and an opposite event to the Open Championship, the Barbasol Championship is NO minor event. In fact, this tournament brings a purse of 3.5 million dollars and offers 300 FedEx Cup points. The PGA TOUR places a large focus on giving back, as their annual charitable givings surpass that of the NFL, NBA, and MLB... COMBINED. This event alone on a local level contributes 20 million back into our Lexington community!

Keene Trace is the proud tournament host site of the Barbasol Championship. We were thrilled to crown Troy Merritt as our first Champion in this event. Through our tremendous relationship with the PGA TOUR and Barbasol we are excited to announce our extension as host site through the year 2023.

CADDIE127

While the Barbasol is going to be a fun, successful tournament, it is also the driving vehicle fueling the Barbasol Championship's charitable initiative Caddie127. The name connects a biblical connotation from James 1:27 “to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”   Just as caddies and their players support one another, so will Caddie127 support philanthropic organizations that benefit and empower women and children. Caddie127 has named All God’s Children, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Refuge for Women, Sunrise Children's Services and the Woodhill Community Center as their 2023 charitable partners. Each of these six charities aligns with Caddie127’s mission to serve and care for marginalized women and children in their distress. Caddie127 is a Kentucky organization that believes women and children should never walk alone, and we intend to do something about it.
